Thomas Wang, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist with Keck Medicine of USC who specializes in complex diseases of the liver, pancreas and bile duct. In addition, he treats patients with premalignant conditions within the gastrointestinal tract.
Dr. Wang received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and his fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Rush University in Chicago.
Dr. Wang performs advanced endoscopy procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic management of severe pancreatitis (e.g., necrosis) and strictures, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for removal of large gastrointestinal polyps, and advanced ablation and resection therapies for Barrett’s esophagus.
He values the privilege of being able to help patients in their time of need. He believes the foundation of excellent care lies in building trust and maintaining open communication with patients — ensuring all patients are fully informed and empowered in their treatment decisions.
He appreciates the daily challenge of solving complex medical issues. His research interests include developing novel tools for early-stage diagnosis of pancreatic cancer as well as innovative endoscopic ultrasound strategies for diagnosing and treating advanced liver disease.
