About Yong K. Kwon , MD
Yong K. Kwon, MD, FACS, is an assistant professor of clinical surgery at USC Keck School of Medicine. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he completed his residency and fellowship training in multi-organ abdominal transplantation and hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) surgery. He is a board certified in general surgery and American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) certified in transplant and HPB surgery. Prior to joining USC, he was an assistant professor at UConn School of Medicine, where he was passionately involved with surgical resident education. His areas of interest not only include multi-organ abdominal transplantation, but a wide variety of HPB tumors and conditions including neuroendocrine tumors, primary and metastatic liver tumors, peri-ampullary cancers, pancreatic cancers, bile duct injuries, and cholangiocarcinoma. He is also interested in combining minimally invasive surgical approaches including laparoscopic assisted liver resection and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy. Of note, he is fluent in Korean as he was born and raised in Seoul, Korea.
